1972 grill has bolts not rivets on frame ?

Just picked up a decent 72 grill, (has no paint around outside). Noticed that where the metal mounting braces attach to the aluminum part, that there are allen head bolts in all places instead of rivets. I thought they were all riveted, or did some use little bolts with little locking nuts ? Could it be after market ? It has some age to it.

All the grills that I have seen have been riveted.

Sounds like aftermarket. The no black paint around the headlights is a big clue. But as above all the originals were rivited in place.

Or at some point a bodyman removed it by drilling out the rivets.....Because he wanted to get paint on the side brackets.....Just a guess because the grille in my 69 was done that way by my Dad.....

I was thinking that the 71 grill had the black paint on them and in 72 it was done away with ??
I have seen some 71 trucks with the black paint removed and once removed you couldn't tell the diff,,could you ?? papa

71 had paint go all the way around and around the headlights. 72 just headlights. And all the aftermarket grills I have seen no paint. Most of the nos grills just are painted like 72.
