Flowmaster or Magnaflow?

I am looking to do an exhaust and was thinking of getting a kit. I want a dual with an X cross over. Also have the stock 45 degree exit behind the tires. Do either of these company's make something like this for our trucks?? And what are you guys running Flowmaster or Magnaflow?

Dual Flowmaster "Big block" series, H pipe, and exiting out behind rear wheels. Nice and quiet, but sounds great on WOT.

I don't think the any company makes a true bolt in kit. I think that LMC offers a Gibson kit for our trucks but will still require some modification.

But as far as Flowmaster or Magnaflow offering a complete kit, I don't think they do. Your local muffler shop should be able to pipe your exhaust anyway you would like.

Running Flowmasters on the '69, but the redo (whenever it is done) will find a set of Cherry Bombs under it!

vectorit is the big block series compatible with a small block?

Sound is subjective.... but I have only heard one set of Flowmasters that sounded good to me, and those were on a Tundra. Most of them, to me, sound tinny, with a hollow echo-chamber sound. Of course, an awful lot of guys love their Flowmasters. I just happen to prefer Magnaflows.

I've got a Magnaflow set up on my 68. Great sound, stainless and it increased tq and hp as advertised. No, I didn't put it on a dyno, I just know because it runs better, especially mid range.

Magnaflow makes a kit for our trucks. What few times I've heard Magnaflows, I really didn't care much for the sound. That's just me though. I'm not saying they sounded bad, but I still prefer Flowmasters. I see the Flowmaster vs. Maganaflow debate turning into a Holley vs. Edelbrock kind of debate.

I have the Super 40 Flowmasters on my truck. I love the way it sounds.

I had flowmasters on my GMC, and I have a magnaflow system on my corvette.

For my 68, I put a Pypes brand kit on my truck. It's available through summit. It's stainless and has an X-pipe in it. They have a choice of 3 different muffler types.

I haven't fired it up yet, so I can't comment on the sound. Plus, mine is on a genIII engine, which sound different than the sbc anyways.

Something else to consider.

I had a set of Flowmaster 40s on my 54 behind a 350 with H pipe. They sounded great at idle and when on the gas but during long cruises they give a obnoxious drone inside the cab that prevented easy communication or music appreciation. This is a well insulated cab and the mufflers were located between the cab and the axle.

The Flowmasters were cut out and replaced with a set of Summit Turbo mufflers I had laying around. No more drone. If your truck is a driver then you will want to consider this. If it only gets driven to weekend cruises or you have no need to listen to tunes than the Flowmasters may fit the bill.

I plan to upgrade to the Dynomax Turbos once these Summit units give it up.

c10crazy, the exhaust exits just behind the rear tire under the corner of the step fender. My cam is a Comp XE262 with Comp Magnum 1.52 roller tipped rockers and an Edelbrock double roller timing chain.

I am running a Dr Gas X crossover with the biggest Dynomax Super Turbos. The tail pipes exit in front of the rear wheels and it is a 3" system. I just put the new mufflers on, I previously had smaller Dynomax 3" super turbos and it was a little loud but had a unique sound with the x-pipe and equal length headers. I also have blower whine which gets loud too.

Well i got a magnaflow performance exhuast made for 67-72 chevy pick ups. Its a 2.5 with an x pipe.
Now i was wondering how other people have gone from the 2 inch manifold to the 2.5 inch exhaust?
Also i saw a thread awhile back about how to go through the frame with the exhuast?

I like the way Flowmasters sound on a big block. I think that Magnaflows sound better on a small block. Just my opinion...kind of like Edelbrock vs. Holley, just have to decide which you prefer.
