shave it or keep it?

Having thoughts about shaving the mirrors, door handles, body line on back of cab or should I keep it stock looking?

Re: shave it or keep it?

Doesn't matter, keep it. Too many of our trucks are being turned into something that belongs in a street ricer mag. Keep the stock lines, that's what makes a classic.

I think you should keep it the way it is.

Re: shave it or keep it?

Personally, I would keep the handles, but shave the cab seam and drip moldings. If you plan on actually using the truck, you may want mirrors of some kind on it.

Shave it if that is the look you want. On my truck I removed the cab molding and the drip rails and kept the handles and mirrors.

Re: shave it or keep it?

look at a ton of pictures either way, then decide. I shaved my drip rails and mirrors, would've liked to have shaved the handles but practical use could be problematic. clamp on peep mirrors are less intrusive to the lines therefore I am going with them

Re: shave it or keep it?

You can go part way and it will still look ok. Handles, either way, mirrors are nice particularly if you pull a trailer at any time, trim is up to you. I didnt put it back on because it was trashed. I need mirrors because mine will be used for towing, but I might shave the handles when I get new doors for it.

Post up a pic of yours, or one you are building similarly to, and you can always get someone to P-shop the trim and handles out in stages and see what looks good to you.

Being unique, even if its only a subtle or slight difference, is what sets us apart from the masses who think of a vehicle as a means to get from A to B and nothing more. I would advise against huge wings, wild graphics, and a fart can amplifying the sound of some 4 popper or V6 you stuffed in it though.. that would be more annoying than anything..

What look are going for? If you are going for a all cumstom look, then go for it. They look so good both ways.

Re: shave it or keep it?

I am not a fan of completely shaved 73-87's...or really any vehicle for that matter. On my 73, I did shave quite a bit, but also kept quite a bit.

Shaved are the mirrors, trim, cab seam, stake pockets, tailgate handle, bumper bolts, and door locks.

I kept the door handles, side markers, recesses tailgate with letters, and bumpers of course.

Regardless, it is up to you, it's YOUR truck and YOU have to be happy with it...not us.

Re: shave it or keep it?

I'd shave the drip rails, and the seam above the rear window. Add small mirrors, and keep the rest.

Re: shave it or keep it?

its your call my exact plan was and is keep driverside mirror, lose gas cap hole, lose the drip rails, and lose my key holes. add a roll, pan when i get a doner cab it will lose 3" of headroom..

Shave is a Pretty BROAD subject when you break it all down. i like minor differeneces not the extreme cases.
