I was browsing a LMC catalog and it shows sending units and what the differences are (IE gauges or lights). I tried to look it up on LMC's web site but it's not that friendly, in fact it's impossible to locate sending units period.
sorry,

Does the sending unit you are looking at have a single outlet or does it have two outlets?

The difference is going to be in the hookups of the gas line. The 70 will have a single outlet, either a 5/16" female fitting or a 3/8" female fitting.

The 72's that I have seen have two lines on the sending unit and are connected using fuel hose. Chances are that it will not be a direct swap out but could be made to work as the ohm output will be the same.
