Door problem

New latches.
Sometimes when I shut the door, it just bounces open again. I have to spin the gear on the latch. Then it closes okay.
Lithium grease - or a bad latch?
Thanks

get out your ratchet and move the striker plate on the cab up or down slightly keep trying it until the door closes properly should work

Thanks - but when the gear wheel on the latch works correctly, the door closes fine. Don't think it's the striker plate. But I've been wrong before.
Thanks again.

mine did the exact same thing all i did was move the striker up about an eighth of an inch and it closes fine the striker probly wasnt aligned properly and it wore a groove so ya just move it up or build it up with brass

Is it worst when cold? Could be a problem with the latch arm, the arm doesnt completely come down into the gear every time. Mainly happens when someone lubes the latch assembly with grease. When cold, the grease will actually hold the arm from springing back down.

Another possibility could be a few missing or damaged coggs on the gear (the part of the gear that contacts the latch lever, not the striker).

Think you are onto something, Piston.
However - It's been a lot colder here in the past than it is now.
I dunno.
The gear is new. Don't think it is the striker because it doesn't happen consistently. Seems like if it was in the wrong place it would happen all the time.
I'll hope for an early spring.
While we're on the subject, has anyone ever enlarged the slots in the striker plates. The doors don't close as flush as I would like them to, and they are adjusted in as far as they can go.
Thanks

dumb question but how new are your rubbers?
just check your gear latch if there is no wear or on the striker ya my idea wont work and about the coldness my 3 on the tree had a bunch of old grease init and one cold morning it wouldnt move until i broke it off and sported a black eye for a couple days use fluid film or a silicone spray totally water resistant and wont freeze
