Interesting, I wonder if he would knock a decent amount off if the buyer didn't take the wheels and tires. I wouldn't mind having an AD burb but the ones I have seen have been pretty sad or way out of my budget.

Re: Cool craigslist deal in Washington
Yeah, I think I saw that truck at a swap meet a few years back. Looked pretty solid. Now it crosses my path again, this time on the virtual swap meet...
On that note, I'm a pretty constant comber of the Portland/Seattle lists. As I'm sure everyone knows, those selling old trucks on craigslist are some nutty people. Here in the Pacific Northwest, vintage iron tends to wind up retiring in the boonies, often being offered for sale by methheads. Suffice to say, I've had some pretty ridiculous chats with people in the last six months! Imagine a a '52 Chevy with no floors, a rusty 350 short-block in the bed, mismatched wheels and flat tires, dash hacked to oblivion, and frame rails rusted through for a paltry $3000... Dude on the phone played dumb (not a stretch for him) and said "It needs a bit of work to run, but it's all there." I laughed all the way home. For 80 miles. However, I found a pretty nice '66 Suburban on CL Portland a few weeks later, and the guy turned out to be a nice old man. Yes, he sported sandals and socks, and his home featured various paintings of fantastical wizards and alien life, but he appeared healthy, clean, and honest. Yes, the 'burb had curtains in the windows and a dream catcher hanging from the mirror, but it too appeared healthy and clean. Again, I laughed all the way home, though I was driving my new truck. Needless to say, the aquisition of a new ride has done nothing to curb my frantic web-searching. So, if it's not too annoying to folks, I'll post up what I find. Is there an appropriate forum, or should I just stick these occasional gems in the forum that corresponds with the model-year? |

Price seems reasonable. http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/907080332.html Cheaper still. http://portland.craigslist.org/yam/cto/901340218.html One ton. Last edited by Oregoon; 11-09-2008 at 02:09 AM. |
