Well, SOMETHING gave out in the 350 today

Going about 75 on a highway, had a power reduction, and now has a nice stumble and smokes some oil.

F*ck. Time to take it in for some help.

just leave it on the side of the road with a "free to any board member" sign in the window. I'm sure one of us northerners would take care of it. within a day you would have at least a dozen trailer show up. LOL

did it make any noises? (bad juju)
possibly a valve seal oil fouled a plug or 2?

Re: Well, SOMETHING gave out in the 350 today

I'd look at the spark plugs to see which one is wet with oil. That way you would know which cylinder is acting up. Then do a compression test to see if it's valve guides or rings.

Most of the engines I've had with oil burning problems have been rings or valve guides. I had one once with a badly worn out valve guide that would smoke pretty bad. It would also mess the spark plug every 200-300 miles.

Yep. Im taking it to another local shop on monday for a free eval/estimate

Then I am taking it to the people who did the work and asking them to make good on it if shop #1 can say they did something dumb (like advance my timing too much, whatever)

Oh, the smoking... Its only after idle, im guessing oil is pooling up somewhere... running at 60mph limping home (Yea, I know thats not quite limping, but I had 60 miles to cover!) it was smoke free.
