Keep it or trade it for a new one.
I found a 65 chevy longbed with a 305 V8 and th350. I've been thinking of selling off the shortbed stepside i have. I've grown tired of fighting with this ancient monster over the last year of me owning it, but i've put more hours than i care to count into it already. I'm terrible at wiring so i'm thinking about selling my truck and buying this one. Then at least i have the 65 chevy pickup that i wanted that runs. My time and funds are limited now due to being married with 2 small children. What do you think i should do?
linky to the possible replacement truck. http://elpaso.en.craigslist.org/cto/911737604.html

I say keep what you already have - you know what you have done to it and what it still needs ( could also be an arguement to get rid of it though....
![]() Good Luck with the tough decision, Pete

Re: Keep it or trade it for a new one.
I say keep what you have. Chances are that the longbed in the ad has a hacked wiring harness in it. I haven't ran across very many older vehicles of any make that some "wiring guru" hasn't taken a shot at. It also sounds like you'd be doing a brake job soon.
Something that puzzles me about the ad, too, is it says the truck has a Holley Double Pumper. There's a couple scenarios that come to mind on that one. 1-It's a Holley so he thinks its a double pumper 2-If it is a DP then it has been jetted way down or it's going to flood out that little 305 idleing IMO, if you are determined to replace your current truck, go look at this one with an open mind, closed wallet and take an uninvolved 3rd person with you that will give you their HONEST opinion about it. Then go home and sleep on it before you make up your mind. If you decide this not the one for you, keep looking. Something will turn up!! Good Luck!!!! |

Im so tired of working on mine as well man but don't let it get the best of you. I have sunk so much time and money into my truck at this point, I could have almost paid off one of my new cars and its still a pile of junk in my eyes. We must forge ahead and complete these beast lol

I'd say keep the one you have. You know for sure the condition it is in. If you need help wiring send me a PM, I'm not the greatest, but I'm sure between the two of us we can figure it out. Plus it'll give more experience for when I start rewiring my beast.
