Question transmission swap

Just bought a 1965 chevy fleetside with a 283/ PG and am wondering how hard would it be to swap a turbo 350 for the PG? I want to use the truck to haul my old corvettes with and I know the PG is not heavy duty enough for the tow. Any ideas?.................Joe

Re: transmission swap

Should be a pretty much straight forward swap. Move the crossmember back accordingly and shorten the driveshaft. You might have to extend the trans cooler lines.....everything else should work on the th350.

Joe:

Sounds like a good plan...I have a number of factory 2-speed Powerglide trannys in my 4-5-6 Chevy trucks and they are limited in the towing category. Let us know how the swap works out and you can probably get a decent price for the factory Powerglide in the Parts For Sale forum.
