4th gen F-body K-member swap??

A buddy of mine is parting out his 02 Camaro SS and I can get the K-member for free. Anyone ever done this swap before, or know how much work is involved?

Initially I was thinking of doing a Porterbuilt C4 dropmember, but being as this option is "basically" free, it makes me wonder!

I think that on a 4th gen f-body, the upper control arm and upper spring pocket is bolted to the body, not the subframe. Thatd make it pretty tough to use.

Re: 4th gen F-body K-member swap??

It's just a tad worse than that. The front strut mounting system goes through the upper control arm pivot assembly and then through the Camaro's strut towers. Effectively as the strut is removed from the car, so is the upper control arm pivot assembly and the upper control arm. Putting that suspension under one of our trucks would take a fair amount of engineering and is definitely not worth the effort. That free K-member is a one way ticket to a thinner wallet and a huge headache.

But if you decide to be that different, be sure to post up some pics of your nightmare...er...I mean project.

Haha, yeah. I went and looked at it the other day and passed on it. The LS1/4L60E sitting there is very tempting though.
