lower control arm install ?
hello, after we did the 72 crossmember swap into the 67 , we blew it apart to rebuild, and install ece drop spindles. The question i have is how do you center the lca on the crossmember, i had rough measurements from the ubolts to the lca front and back on driver and passenger side but these were accidentally thrown away when we cleaned the garage. i have the lca's loosely installed, do i go ahead and install the spindle loosely and let it dictate the centerpoint via the balljoint shaft? the tighten the lca and install the spring and spindle completely? Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: lower control arm install ?
as far as i know, the lca's can only go on one way. Threre is a dimple in shaft that lines up with a nipple on the crossmember.

Re: lower control arm install ?
if you are talking about the threaded cups onto the shaft, well, i am having the same problem. no one on this forum could answer that question. what i did is counted the turns on both sides. started it on the threads on each end and did a full turn on each end. it came out pretty much centered. have not taken it to the alignment shop yet. you can still adjust the top for the caster if it is a little off.

Re: lower control arm install ?
Ok Thanks for the info Guys. we overlooked the dimples at first but i noticed it when i crawled under the frame. also noticed it was tweaked a little
like a po hit something, i straightened it best i could and touched it up with chasis black.

Re: lower control arm install ?
I just centered mine. I also brought my control arm to an alignment shop because I was wondering the same thing, so I wanted to ask them. The guy said if he were to align the truck, he wouldnt use the lca threaded shaft as a way to align. I had thought it was used in alignment. Maybe the guy didn't know what he was talking about, but he has been in business for decades.
