14 bolt full floaters

Got a quick question. Do the full floaters ususally hold up well over time? Like If I were to buy a used one, what would be the chances that it would be useable?Just curious.Anyone ever had a problem with buying a used one?

Re: 14 bolt full floaters

Just depends how it was driven, how often it was serviced, and if anyone decided to mess around inside and it and if they did the work correctly. Make sure the yoke doesn't have too much rotational slop in it. Drain the fluid and pop the cover when you get it home. This is a good indication of the life it led. Inspect the gears for any kind of damage or excessive wear.

If everything looks like, you can go ahead and fill it back up with fresh fluid and stick it under the truck. This is about the best way I can figure if you just want something used to stick under the truck, versus doing a complete rebuild beforehand.

That said it's a strong rear end but abuse can still kill one. The condition of the truck it's coming out of is also a good indication of the life it led.
