Question About Rear Door Handle for Suburban.

In the catalogs I have found that the back door of a suburban has a different part number. What is the difference between the rear door exterior handle of a Suburban and the front doors? Does anyone have a GM part number for the rear door exterior door handle? I have been told that the rear door has multiple applications, or just the rear door alone? Any insight into this? Thanks in advance!!!

Thats interesting. Ive always thought both passenger side door handles were exactly the same. The barn door handle is the same except for the arm that sticks out that the button pushes is longer.

LMC (the only parts book i have here at the moment) shows the 3rd door outside door handle under the same p/n as the passenger front door.

Re: Question About Rear Door Handle for Suburban.

CG is right about the barn door handle having a longer pin in the push button. We made an extension for a regular right side door handle. . The extension was made so that the pin would be the same length as the one on the old barn door handle.

We had bought a "barn" door handle that turned out to have the same pin as the other door handles.

Re: Question About Rear Door Handle for Suburban.

Okay, I'm a little confused then. The catalog I have from The Car and Truck Shop shows the regular door handles, then it shows on for twice the money of the two and calls it a "Suburban Rear Side Handle" Is it possible it is the back barn door handles they are referring to? Then i find this ad on ebay, and the description completely confuses me. It is right for 69-72 trucks and blazers 1/2 ton - 1 ton, or the rear passenger door on suburbans and panels? This makes no sense to me.

Any idea on the part number? Are they saying rear door like the back barn door? That would make sense with a panel, but then how does it interchange with the 1/2 - 1 ton trucks? Ideas?

Re: Question About Rear Door Handle for Suburban.

I think the one on the e-bay add is just a passenger side handle, good for front or 3rd door on a burb.
The oddball one is probably for barn doors.... since they say it fits a panel, which, a panel wouldn't have the third door, just the front doors and barn doors out back.
