header of choice

Have a vortec 350 in my 84 c/10 2wd truck. Looking for the headers you guys prefer for our trucks. It has the serpentine setup on it too. I was looking at hedman's 69890 14 guage coated headers for 260 bucks. sound like a good deal? anything better out there for 200-275 bucks? thanks.

Keith

I have read about Holley's addition --- Flowtech Afterbuner headers. They claim to have the torque curve of a tri-y and the upper horsepower of a big tube header, I think these are the headers I will try for my truck, and they run about $140....
Check 'em out. I'm not sure if they will fit vortec?
summit racing enter ---BIG49150-- in the part number search

That's cool... I'd seen those in summit, is anyone actually running them? Do they seem to live up to their advertisement? The main reason i wanted a coating was to prolong life and keep engine temps down. I had a pair of flowtech coated headers on my cutlass and you sure could tell the difference in underhood temps.

Anyone running coated headers in the < $270 dollar range that they're just really excited about.

speaking of vortec heads, i thought they had the same exhaust ports? Of course this is my first chevy build up so i really wouldn't know.

any help?

Thanks guys

keith

I'm running the Elites 69890, and have only one complaint, they hang down so low. If you are gonna lower your truck forget these. I love the construction of these headers(thick tubes and flanges) so I will probably buy the shorties for the 67-74 Chevelle. I think there are many guys running the Dynomax ceramic Chevelle shorties and love em'. The difference is that the Dynomax tubes are 1 1/2" and Hedman are 1 5/8".

Thanks,

My truck is at stock height right now, i had thought of droping it 2 inches later. Do you think this would interfere with the headers? What is the part number for the chevelle shorties? thanks..

When i search summit for hedman Elite shortie, Two headers come back... 68478 for 1988-92 camaro. And then 68608 for a whole bunch of stuff including Chevrolet: 262-400 1967-81 Camaro, 1964-87 Chevelle/El Camino/Malibu, 1968-79 Chevy II/Nova, 1971-91 Bel Air/B...

I'm guessing that the 68608 are the one's i'm looking for right?

Thanks alot...

Keith
