hey guys, i found a decent swb 69 c10 that i might buy. i was thinking about somethings that would be cool to do, like bags, suicide doors, tilt hood, custom interior, ect. and i got to thinkin how cool all the slammed blazers look on here, where u can just take the top off and its a convertable, or put it on and its protected

so what im askin is, has anyone on the board done this? converting a swb into a fully funtional blazer? any info on this? pics would be sweet

Would it be essentially a convertible truck? Could be pretty cool, was gonna use the sawzall to cut the top off an old beater F150 I had to make a summer cruiser.

yea idk because i have been lookin at some pics of short beds and blazers, and the cab of the truck, where the door latches and the gas filler is, isnt on a blazer. not to mention how u would cut the rear of the cab and the front side of the bed to make it accecable for more seats if need be. then what about a cover for when it rains?

There was a convertible pickup craze back in the 80s and early 90s. Mostly mini trucks but I'm sure someone made a kit for a full size. Cut the roof and get a ragtop to go to the length of the truck to the tailgate. I never really liked the look myself but I'm sure it's been done.

If I were you I'd think about converting a 4wd Blazer to a 2wd instead of trying to start with a pickup. It might be easier.

so what are the specs on a blazer compared to a truck? like length of frame, length of body(all welded together) and how the cap off a blazer fits onto the body of a blazer and if that would work for a truck

is there anyway i can not cut the frame? like fill the extra space with sheetmetal so i dont have to cut and move the frame and driveshaft problems?

have you thought about using a camper shell and a carpet kit inthe bed it could be really nice then maybr weld the bed to the shell and cab all in one piece but mont be able to remove the top

Very similar responses as you were getting in the thread over in the blazer section on this subject, you'll be light years ahead by starting off with a blazer right from the beginning.

...but if you did go with a swb, I'd leave the frame and bedsides alone and fill the gap between the cab & bed.

What do you have in the works for keeping your door openings aligned?
