Re: What did you get done this weekend 11/16/08 edition

I got up early to do pool maintenance. Discovered the diverter valve was leaking so I took it apart, lubed it and put it back together.....Three times. Finally got it right, so I proceeded with my Saturday morning ritual by washing all my daily drivers.

Got my daughters Saturn Vue in to the dealer for a computer update and oil change. Took my wife's Denali for an oil change too.

Went Christmas shopping, then out to dinner with my wife, daughter, and her "guy" friend. She refuses to call him a boyfriend, and I am fine with that.

Today we had family over then off to volleyball practice. My daughter starts her club volleyball season today. I can't wait for the tournaments to begin.

My duaghter was baptized today (Sunday), so that was the main highlight (I am tall, but most of my inherited family is short ). I also picked up a set of wheels, which I am unhappy with...but did pick up this, which I am very happy with.

Friday morning my back glass exploded on me in my suburban and have spent all weekend looking for a replacement for it. Had to tape up some cardboard in the meantime.

Jeff,

When you get your mini-theater, let me know. I'll send you the same box I have of 79 stuff.

As for my weekend, I polished the wheels on my 86 again, new tires tomorrow. Living on a gravel road sucks. I'd do a better job of keeping them polished if it were paved.

Yo! Installed the evap cannister that I got from the junkyard for $20 last Wed. and hooked it up to my two fuel tanks and carb. Secured all my engine bay wires and hoses. Tested my custom twin-stick NP205 T/case in the one mode I'd not yet tryed,...FWD with the front hubs unlocked! Properly drove the front axle and was immobile because the hubs were unlocked! Cool! And found my '73 brakes to need another major bleeding before they work evenly. Plates and insurance on my next day off during the week. Todd.

Re: What did you get done this weekend 11/16/08 edition

I finally got the passenger seat in. My dad made me some raised brackets for the front out of stainless. They're around 1.5" taller that the stock ones, and I only raised the front. When I first put the seats in the bottom was dang near level and made my legs cramp from no support, so I raised them by putting a long bolt in with nuts as spacers between the track and seat, to find the right height before making the real brackets.

I got the seat in and my daughter wanted to ride in the truck because she hasn't gotten to ride since I had the seatbelts out of it a couple a months ago. So we rode around in the truck for a while and got her a new heavy jacket and then rode some more (about 150 miles or so total). She's 10 and loves that truck. She can't see anything in her momma's car and can see everything in the truck, so she doesn't even want to ride in MY car...lol Maybe we'll get her an old squarebody one day

I worked alot. Put in some OT. Getting excited about going on vacation next week with the g/f.

Didn't do anything truck related really. I'm trying to figure out how to let a buddy of mine know that I won't be able to finish replacing the motor in his car. Just don't have enough time now that a couple people got fired and we're getting really busy at work. On top of that I'm about to start working 60+ hour weeks after I get back from vacation.

Spent most of saturday getting an '83 Firebird home for me. Was going to be a parts car but got it running in 20 mins. after sitting almost 4 years decided I might keep it. Will get pics up in the General Discussion this week. My buddy also picked up a ford truck for parts made out good on that. Same guy I got the firebird from. The truck had a good 351 Clevland and drivetrain he needs so hes happy. Got the Firebird washed and cleaned up on sunday and hung out with family. Thats about all.

Tracked down a brake light problem with the Heap, turn signal switch.

Wired up my Chevelle and daily gas mileage Mazda so I can move around my XM radio.

Took the S-10 out for a nice cruise.

The family and I went to Applebees for a really bad meal.

Re: What did you get done this weekend 11/16/08 edition

Starte the diesel and dragged the trailer load of old drywall off Friday, then insulated the 2nd wall on the girl's bedroom. Still trying to decide if the ceiling needs to come down (have a dead critter odor...) Caulked, painted, and isulated the sills on the north side of the basement on Saturday and Sunday. Watched the water leak in the big and little cracks in the poured wall on Saturday, watched the snow fall on my truck collection Sunday. Glad I got that insulation done. That room has always been cold, now it's better than most of the other rooms. And drywall still to come.

Next, some type of scan tool and data logger and find out whats broke on my 99. Couldn't make it go 70 in 4th last week, got a dead hole somewhere...

Jeff-Congats on the baptism.

Saturday went to Moon Speed Equipment w/ a freind of mine. Picked up some spun aluminum discs forthe model A trailer. Got caught up in HORRIBLE traffic near La Puente, so we went to "SPEED ZONE" and race carts for a couple of hours.
Sunday, cut up a front clip off an old '79 that I got rid of months ago. Worked on the '71 Ford truck, worked on a Baja Bug for a friend. Went out to Applebees for dinner(LOUSY service).Went grocery shopping, came home and played the video game.

Did a bunch of little stuff that needed to get done.

Sorted existing harness

Removed exhaust and test fit tranny mount for 4l80

Installed the motor mount brackets and mounts.

Oh yea and watched the texans lose yet again.

Re: What did you get done this weekend 11/16/08 edition

Took the C10 to get new tires...
Did a burnout in the parking lot of said tire place...
Parked & walked in said tire place...
Laughed as Service Manager laughed and said "you best not be coming to ask for a tire rotation after that burnout I saw!"
Pulled off with new tires on, after christening 'em in said parking lot...

In conclusion... truck has a LOT of low end torque, and ain't good in rain or other damp environments. LMAO!

Re: What did you get done this weekend 11/16/08 edition

Congrats Jeff on both (not the rims)

I went to Pinks! tryouts and the ended up selecting the first 9 second class. My brother's pickup didn't make it nor did a couple other close friends. 1 did make it, but I left before the finals so I don't know who won. It was 45 degrees by 4:30pm and I didn't want Lizzy out in the cold.

Friday my Permacool E-fan setup FINALLY arrived after 2 months.

Sunday night I check the antifreeze on the truck to make sure it would be ok for the freezing that is supposed to come in tonight. I even drove it around some.

Re: What did you get done this weekend 11/16/08 edition

Steam cleaned most of the engine. Found that the power steering leak is coming from the top of the gearbox. Found out that you can eventually make the little wheels on window regulators move if you spray it with enough white grease. Found out that a '76 window regulator won't fit a '73. Can't figure out how an ammeter works. Hooked up an aftermarket voltmeter that's passable. For now. Reconnected the stock oil pressure gauge. Switched out my headlights with new halogen ones. Primered hood. Changed oil.
