Junk yard tool and stowage part 2

I mentioned in a previous post that I had found a 1973 Cheyenne Super truck at a junk yard and it had a driver side tool and stowage box from the factory. I have had several of the 1970-1972 trucks that had this option, but did not even know it was an option on the square body trucks. I got the unit and some pictures for anyone who is interested. It does look like I am going to have to figure a way to get at least part of the bedside to make this work right. Does anyone know what years this option was available? Obviously it was available in 1973. The option does show on the truck's SPID. I feel sure someone on here must have a good idea what years this could be ordered.

The picture that has two tool box doors in it shows the 1973 door next to the earlier generation doors. What you can not see from this angle is the later door itself is shorter than the earlier ones. I couldn't resist leaving the console boxes in the background of the one picture. That is about half of the ones I have. Someday I will get around to restoring some of them.

Are these place in front of the rear axle? How does it fit with the fuel tank?

That's just down right mean...

I had no idea they put tool boxes on trucks later than 72. Are you sure it's factory? Could it be a dealer item?

I believe it was 73 only, perhaps 74 too.

Please keep me in mind if you sell it.

At least I did not call attention to the tach dash on top of the one stack of consoles. I am pretty sure it is factory because it is listed on the SPID as an option (VK2 if I remember right)

Cool to know that. Naah, the tach dash wouldn't get me drooling (much). I have one of those already. I even have a NOS speedo with fuel gauge that I plan to build a cluster for one of these days.

What I don't have is a good early style cup holder console....

If it's in good condition yes you should. Clean ones are getting harder to come by.

Jef and Chris both have said the repop isn't that great of quality. I haven't seen one, but I'll take their word for it.

They look real cheap IMO...you can tell just by looking at them.

Re: Junk yard tool and stowage part 2

I have seen trucks on eBay with these. Must not have been very popular since it didn't last, either that or dual fuel tanks were more popular and of course won't allow the tool box.
