Re: hoods

The 67-68 hoods have a slope to them and are longer (come down to meet the 67-68 grill)

A 69 up hood will leave a gap between the front edge of it and the 67-68 grill and the hood latch will not line up.

The 67-68 hood also follows the contours of the 67-68 fenders.

I can't imagine any way to make the later hoods work with the 67-68, and personally can't believe anyone would want to... The 67-68 front design is perfect...

I have seen people MAKE 67-68 hoods work on 69-72 trucks, but it is a lot of work.

Re: hoods

The contours are the same on all years of fenders arent they? Just the front slope, length, and hood latch are different. Right?

Andy, not to hijack this, but I have heard you have to change the core support in a front end swap. (IE... take a '70 and put a '67 front end on it...) Can the existing support be modified or no? I have been curious, because I have a friend who has a '70 and he wants a '67-'68 front end.

Thanks!

The core supports are the same except the headlight buckets on the 69-72 are spot welded to the core support and the 67-68 are separate. The later core support can be modified by removing the headlight buckets and drilling holes for the 67-68 headlight adjusters. The holes for the adjusters are square but all you have to do is drill the holes the right size and knock the corners out with a square file. You also have to drill a small hole for the adjuster spring. The best thing to do is look at both types of supports. It really isn't hard to do.

Re: hoods

The contour of the fenders can be taken to mean different things. The only difference (besides marker lights) on the 67-72 fenders is that the 69-72 Chevy fenders have an indentation in the front of the fender for the 69-72 Chevy grille to fit over. The 67-68 Chevy and 67-72 GMC fenders do not have this indentation.

I noticed the GMC in your avatar. If you are talking GMC's all the fenders are the same (you gotta love it...) with the exception of no marker lights in 67.

Also on the core supports other than the head light buckets the 69-72 don't have the 67-68 splash pan mounting holes (threaded inserts)
