intake
A friend of mine sandblasted an aluminum intake cuz it was painted yellow and i was wondering if there is anything out there to put over it like in a spray can to protect it, i was thinkin clear coat but wouldn't that burn off???any ideas appreciated.

Shops that powdercoat intakes also use clearcoat!

Are you sure it is aluminum?
Most aluminum intakes are not painted but have some sort of varnish that makes them easier to clean. Because aluminum does not rust, you probably do not need anything on your intake. (Rust only occurs in the presence of iron)

getting it powdercoated is the best way to go but if moneys tight Easwood company sells a rattle can to do the job or por15 also has a suitable product but definately coat it cause aluminium doesn't stay nice for long

yes im sure its aluminum and it was an ugly yellow, is there anything else i should put on there??

Clear paint in the rattle can will work fine. The intake doesnt get hot enough to burn the paint. It would if the heat riser were working 100% but the heat riser really only works effectively if you are using the cast iron exhaust manifolds with the thermostatic exhaust valve. I dont know anyone that does although the purists might ...but then again they wouldnt be using an aluminum manifold either. Without the exhaust valve you wont get enough exhaust gases through the manifold to get it hot enough to scorch the paint . Painting it clear makes keeping the aluminum clean much easier .

They make high temp clear that is used for engines, i used it on my intake and no problems so far!

yea you can buy some hight heat paint made by vht. this stuff also has a high resistants to gasoline.
