Make sure you have a bottle of ATF around. Dip your finger in it and check it against the dip stick reading. If the fluid on the dip stick is darker than what's in the bottle then your clutch packs are buring up. If your fluid is even got a brown-ish color then it's time to rebuild the transmission.
