rear end help
Hello fellows I got a 1982 chevrolet silverado with a mildly built 350 with a 350 transmission. This is the question i got i want to do something to my rear end. I believe i have the orginal 2.73 rear end. I want to to have posi tration. right now only one wheel spins when i nail it. What all do i need to get posi on my truck But i dont want suffer with losing gas mileage either.

You should be able to buy a posi kit to go in the rearend,depending on what it is,but you May,note may,come off cheaper getting a used rearend with posi.Maybe you can just take the posi unit out of another rearend.

If you are not looking to change the gear ratio at the same time, the simplest way to go is to install an add-on unit like a "Power Trax". It will cost about $450, but it only takes a couple of hours to install and it doesn't require all of the "professional" equipment.
Swapping an entire differential really does take a "pro". You could go the used route, but it may take quite a bit of time to find the right ratio and a posi unit together. Finding a posi and a 2.73 is going to be at least a little difficult...and the Power Trax is a better unit that the factory Gov-Lock anyway. |

10 bolt shouldn't be a gov-lock,should it? Should either be a clutch posi,or an auburn style clutchless.
