Exhaust sound comparisson (Something about "the man".)

As promised, in conjunction to the other threads, here is a comparisson between my old CherryBomb glasspacks, and the new Thursh Turbos.

Nothing aside from the the mufflers were changed.

Cherry Bombs:
walk around -
In the cab -

Thursh Turbos:

It's alot mellower, but still talks. Just, it's a whisper compared to the way the 'packs used to talk.

Lemme know whatcha think.

Oh, and don't mind the smoke. I have no idea why she's billowing...

Thanks again all.

-Sam.

New ones make it sound like a nice performing engine. Old ones sound ratty and tinny. Just because something is loud doesn't mean it sounds good. I think you made a good choice.

That ride reminds me of my truck back in high school... I like the new sound myself.

I like the way it sounds with the turbo mufflers. Do you have headers on your truck?

I like both as well, kinda have a soft spot for the glass packs though, first car was a 64 Impala dualed out with glass packs behind a 283 and powerglide, used to run a 71 GMC half ton in one of my first jobs that had duals and packs also. It was a 307 with three on the tree also.

Re: Exhaust sound comparisson (Something about "the man".)

Sounds awesome, kinda sleeper like.

I agree that loud doesn't always mean performance. Just look at all those "dur-dur" Honda's running around.

I just think people in general now-a-days think of performance in terms of a good sounding engine that is deep and smooth. (Alright guys, get yer minds out of the gutter!)

Re: Exhaust sound comparisson (Something about "the man".)

I like both too, but like others I lean toward the Glass packs....the smooth sound is what I would associate with high end performance cars, the louder rougher sound is what we find on street rods and customs. That aint smoke from the exhaust it's more like condensation as you can see it evaporate quickly, smoke would linger. That's what happens when it's cold.

Re: Exhaust sound comparisson (Something about "the man".)

Thanks for the comments guys.

And yes, it does have headers.

The sound is growing on me, and although I miss the glasspacks, the turbo's should be alot nicer for a daily driver.

Don't worry though, the Chevy II will have glasspacks - the mellow, deep, and smooth sound is nice, but I still love the crackle and growl of 'packs.
