emergency brake spring

My emergency brake seems to be missing a spring because when I depress the pedal it will not stay down unless I hold the brake handle in place than it will work. I tried to find a picture of the emergency brake to see where and if there is a spring that holds the handle until you release it but could not find any.

Does any one have a picture of know what I am talking about so I can fix it?

Re: emergency brake spring

I used a generic spring from the hardware store. I don't have a picture, my son has his truck at work.

Re: emergency brake spring

Go to ace. That is where I gott mine. They have a board with over 200 springs on it. The closest they have was spring #101, if I rember right. They are in draweers numbered from 1 to like 200. You will need two to get enough tension butt works great for me.

Re: emergency brake spring

Went to ace today they do not have a spring #101.

If someone could post a picture of what the spring looks like and its size I could try to match it up somewhere.

Mine is totally gone and I have no idea.

Re: emergency brake spring

I used a generic spring too. When I got my truck, it had no spring either and I had to do the same thing to set the e-brake. Took me less than 5 minutes to fix it.

Re: emergency brake spring

If you have a lowes near you they also have a spring selection that will work.
