Center Seat Belt

In my 65 I have lap belts for well myself and my bride if she rides along. However that leaves my 3year old sitting in the garage with no way to ride because I don't have a center selt belt.

Later I was planning on installing a seat out of a newer style truck say a 2000+ Chevy so I could have shoulder belts and a center jump seat so he could ride.

This year I wanted to take my new to me truck down and buy a Christmas tree and two things stopped me. Not having the bed mounted and not having a 3rd/center seat belt for my boy. Sure its not the safest thing in the world and some cops frown upon little guys being up front, but if your rig doesn't have a back seat what are you to do? So instead we took the family truxster aka the wifes Cherokee and threw it on the roof.

Ok, to the question hahaha, is it as simple as removing the two center most seat belt mounts and then attaching a new seat beat? I haven't bought a seat belt as of yet or measured how long a belt is needed for his car seat and soon to be booster. Just thinking a head for next year since well this year is passed and I'm sure the truck will be torn apart most of the winter/spring.

Re: Center Seat Belt

With a complete factory seat belt set-up, just remove the two inside floorboard bolts and attach the new belts with the original bolts. Viola, you have made room for the three year old. I have done this to every 4-5-6 Chevy truck I have owned and it is long enough to secure most car seats.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Re: Center Seat Belt

Hot damn I knew it was that easy. I'll have to pick up another seat belt and give it a go.

Thanks guys

Re: Center Seat Belt

I guess the hardest part would be to find seatbelts that match what I already have I suppose.

Soon I suppose.
