TSX HID retrofit on my 94 K1500

Thought I'd post this up here in case anyone's interested. I recently finished retrofitting a set of HID projectors from an Acura TSX into my stock headlights. And while it was a lot of work and cost a lot more then just getting an HID kit, I think the output and the not blinding oncoming drivers is worth it alone.

I'll rundown a list of the materials I used.

Projectors: From an 04-06 Acura TSX, purchased off eBay.

Bulbs: Phillips HID bulbs, purchased from a member on www.hidplanet.com

Ballasts: Two digital 35w ballasts from www.retro-solutions.com

Headlight housings: Used a set of halogen headlight housings from eBay so that it would have a shroud and look stock.

Wiring Harness: Built my own using connectors from parts store and eBay.

Waterproofing: I used a rubber 4 inch-to-3 inch plumbing reducer and then a 3 inch plastic piece with a screw on cap so that I can access the bulb to change it. The rubber reducer was attached to the housing with a combination JB Weld and high heat silicone.

Brackets: Because of the waterproofing, I couldn't use the stock brackets. Using some 2x2 aluminum angle iron and instructions from fullsizechevy.com I made my own brackets, which also eliminated the aftermarket headlight sticking out problem.

I think that's all, so onto the pics.

Overall it was a great mod, though it took a lot longer then I thought, was much more involved and cost more. But in the end was worth it.

Check out this thread for a more detailed walkthrough that I couldn't have done without.

That is a sweet upgrade - but a whopping lot of work. Nice job.

It was a ton of work, WAY more then I thought it was going to be. And I said I'd never do it again, but if I get a new truck/car, it's definitely going to see a retro.
