WTB Factory A/C heater/defroster diverter box

I am looking for a useable floor to defrost switching/diverter box for my '71 GMC. It HAS to be for factory A/C. This is the piece that actually blows the heat to the floor and defrost tubes, not the diverter for the A/C vents. Let me know what you have!!!

Mike

I wish I knew someone would want this. I just threw away a complete factory A/C from my 72 Super. Sorry

Re: WTB Factory A/C heater/defroster diverter box

BE CAREFUL!
These boxes are "junk", by design from GM. I almost never see a used one that doesn't have the flapper broken loose from the shaft. They will look OK, but when you hold the flapper---the shaft & lever on the side will still turn.
I recommend you get a new one and only switch it from heat to AC while the vehicle is not moving---no air pushing on the flapper when you switch it. That seems to be what breaks them.
If you are really good, you can make a flapper reinforcement and weld it to the shaft and screw or rivet it to the flapper.
Good luck. Frank

That is the part that I am looking for, but I do not know how to tell the difference for A/C and non A/C. I have two of them now that I have boughten that do not even come close to fitting the S duct that comes off the A/C-heat diverter box. Maybe someone out there can help me out with this one!!!

I think the "AC" part confused me. I believe the part you want, shown above in the pic, is the same for ac & non-ac...right?
The divertor box I was talking about is the plastic one the switches from heater to AC vents.
Maybe these pics of an AC sys will help.

I was told that they are different. I have one here now that there is no way that my S duct I have will fit onto it without some major surgery. It looks as if it would work, but it doesn't fit!!!
Anyone know for sure?

Mike
