Dashpad Repair Idea

I have an idea and want to know what you guys think about it. I'm thinking about making repairs on my dashpad with some fiberglass or bondo to fix the cracks like I've seen some of you guys do, and then take it, and an old set of door panels that I have to either Line-X or Rhino Lining and have them sprayed with bedliner.

It wouldn't have to be sprayed on as thick as the inside of a bed, just enough to get good coverage. Since you can have that bedliner material tinted to your specific color and it is tough as hell it should look good and last a long time as long as it would adhere to the dashpad and door panels. Has anybody tried this? If you have, what was the result? Good idea or not? ...Joe

Should work fine, theres a 67 or so bronco around here that's totally covered in linex, inside and out. Everything except the glass, seats and some chrome trim they kept.

Re: Dashpad Repair Idea

There's a Line-X dealer not too far from me in Ozark. I'm going to give them a call and see how much they would charge to do it, and if they even will. I'm thinking about doing the door panels first to see how they would turn out if they'll be willing to do it.

If I'm able to get it done, I'll post up some pics. I don't think that it would take that much material to do it really. Just enough to cover and get a decent texture would be all that I would want. Not sure if I would need to tape up some areas such as around the door panel inserts and the chrome trim so that I wouldn't have so much buildup that I wouldn't be able to get the parts put back together. I'll just have to talk to them about this idea and see what they think would be the best way to do it. ...Joe
