leaf spring lowering

I need some advice on how to lower the rearend of my 1970 SWB fleet. I want to go about 4", but the leaf spring is above the axle. A flip kit would drop it about 5 or 6, and I don't want to C-section just yet. Are there shackle and hanger kits for this app?

any help is appreciated

You can buy new 4" lowered leafs for a few hundred bucks. It's the way I went and it's as easy as can be.

2nd that, probably the slickest way to go would be a dropped leaf. They do have shackles kits, but i havent seen a front hanger kit for the 67-72..........crazyL

That kind of stinks. How bout if you swapped in C10 hangers? Would the drop leafs then work?

You could always go get the leaves re-arched...

Aren't the C20 leaves 2.5" wide instead of 2.25"? I wonder if you could use '73-'87 leaves...

Are the hangers the part that attach to the front of the spring (closest to the front of truck) and schackles attach to the rear of the spring right? What is so different about the C10 vs C20 hangers? Thanks for the info guys

I found a place called www.performancesuspension.com that has lowering shackles for about $40. They claim they fit our trucks but I havent purchased or heard of anyone who has used them. They only give you a 2" drop, but you may try this in conjunction with something else to give you the drop you want.
