Heater Hose Help

Hoping for opinions here. I just installled an Edelbrock Performer Air Gap on my small block and I am not sure how i want to run the heater hoses. Is there a preferred way? I spent an hour today looking at some of the rides posted here and it seems like most have a line to the thermostat area (#3,#5) with another going to the water pump (#6) or the radiator. I also have a port in the front of the thermostat (#4) and two in the back (#1, #2) - can these be used? If #1 and #2 are plugged, will it affect the cooling of the rear of the engine? Thanks.

I would do 3 & 6. Use never seize on the others that you plug

Re: Heater Hose Help

I'd use number 2 to feed the heater core-----cyl number 8 always seems to run the hottest---------- and return it to the radiator

Re: Heater Hose Help

Thanks for the help. I started to use the #3 & #6 combo but I was not sure why they put in the rear water ports. The radiator is out of the question since it has no port. Would it be possible to use #1 & #2 or would the pressure be equal causing no circulation? My heater core barely passes thru the firewall and it would give the engine a cleaner look and I like the idea of cooling the rear cylinders. Also, is the port on the water pump pressure or suction? I'm probably thinking way too hard into this but I have no clue.

Re: Heater Hose Help

1&2 won't give you any flow thru the core but 2&6 should work ok.

Re: Heater Hose Help

I got the fittings for #2 & #6, we'll se if that works. The other front connections would have been too difficult because of all of the corners and angles.

Re: Heater Hose Help

Yep 2 and 6 should work fine. Or 5 and 6.
5 is the normal outlet to the heater on most small block chev's But some other GM rigs use the 2 position.
