Re: Do they think it looks good.
I think anything over a 17" wheel is too large and I have done 18's on a 1970 muscle car a few years back and it was ok, looked like something out of a magazine but I wasn't really satisfied with it. I am just glad that everyone wants the big wheel look because it makes the small 15's be much cheaper. I was considering getting a set of 17's for my truck but the 15's are too cheap to pass up now days. Yesterday I just picked up a set of 15x10 Centerline Champ 500 Convo's w/tri-bar spinners for $200 and I bet I can go about anywhere and won't see anyone with the same wheels.

The current trend is certainly larger diameters on everything.Even the automakers reflect it in their designs.I`m sure this will be the norm until something else changes and I doubt that will be smaller.Or,I`ll have to eat my words when they go to urethane wheels on pivoting trucks

..and where would you be able to use TWO TV's in a regular cab truck? IMO, the huge rims are a result of trying to make up for the owner's defficiencies (SP?) elsewhere, if you know what I mean... an inferiority complex. Re: Do they think it looks good.
Check out what my dad is rollin', yo! (They have tires on them now.) As far as being "different", how many trucks have you seen with the "dog dish" 80's caps? I am looking for a stock set of 71 poverty caps, but have not found a deal as good as the $20 I spent on this set of NEW caps!
I must be the only guy in the country "- sizing" not "+ sizing" wheels. Call me stupid, (OK,not really), but I have an '06 Cobalt SS (non supercharged) that had factory 17" x 6.5" wheels. When I rolled 30k miles, it was time for new tires (!). Stock size is 205/55-17. I usually deal with Discount Tire, but also checked several other stores. Due to this being an oddball size (17" rim, but NARROW as hell), they all only had three brands, costing from $160- $203 EACH!!! I replaced the stock 17" x 6.5" wheels with 16" x 7" wheels and 225 55/16 Pirellis tires. They are almost exactly the same height. The tire calculator shows that when the speedo reads 65 mph, I am actually only going 64.66 mph (!) I am not trying to second guess GM, but the car handles better with the slightly wider tires and DFINITELY rides better with 1/2" more rubber between me and the road with the 16" wheels. I was able to buy the 16" wheels and tires for almost the same $$ as what the 17 TIRES ALONE would have cost! I put the old 17's in the barn to save for if I ever sell the car. |

Re: Do they think it looks good.
That looks like a Tonka Toy or Hot Wheels from when we were kids.
My two cents. Kerry

Re: Do they think it looks good.
My dad thought my fat rear tires looked dumb....much like my long hair. Seeing this look tells me he wasn't all that wrong to dislike it. There's a lot of stuff I see on vehicles that makes me tired.
Oversized wheels look dumb on older vehicles, just like pants worn on your thighs. Especially dumb lookin' where the wheels raise the car 15" off the ground and the owners 'brand' the car with a 22 or 24 and a set of slash marks braggin' to the world what size they are. Not to mention the newest 'fad' of sticking on fake buick holes on an SUV made in Korea. How do those boys run anyway?...about as carefully as those who have big wheels and rubber band tires drive over potholes I guess.... Yeah I know, to each his own. I bet they all think I am crazy for rollin' on 15's and 6 ply tires in my work truck. But I get the last laugh...my wheels cost $34 each!

Re: Do they think it looks good.
i remember i was washing my truck at a car wash and an avalanch came in with wheels that came up to my waist, and im 6 foot 4! then opened up the lambo doors. i got into my truck, closed the door, and burst out laughing, then when the guy wasn't looking i took a pic of it and showed it to all my buddies and they laughed so hard.
but on our trucks its so dumb its not even funny
