serpintine drive

O.K. I got the serpintine drive from a 99' vortec 350 and in working on the install . What are you guys using or having made up to go from the new pump to the old gear box ? the return line is no biggie , but the high pressure supply line has different fittings . is there a small adapter for the box end to use the new hose ? Cut up 2 hoses and take them to the hydraulic shop ? Also the water pump appears to have 2 heater hoses off of it . Can i just hook my heater up here ? The clutch fan i have is to big for the factory fan shroud also . Any " i have this year and it worked great " would be great . Im also coverting to the CS144 alterator and going to adapt the compressor to my underdash set up .

Re: serpintine drive

My setup is from a 91 and I used the stock pressure line. I had to take the pressure valve with the correct flare from the older pump and screw it into the new pump. Then just connect up the hose. For the heater 3/4" hose should come off the intake manifold and 5/8" off the pump. The stock fan and clutch had to go. I riveted a pizza pan to the inside of the shroud and then cut out the hole and mounted the fan in it. So far its working very well for about a year. You may get away with using the stock fan and no clutch.

Re: serpintine drive

I used a BB fan shroud with my setup, clears fine.

Re: serpintine drive

Powersteering, just take your 1 inch wrench and swap the fitting from the original pump into the back of the new pump. Then you can reuse your factory hoses.

Re: serpintine drive

My truck came with manual steering . This is part of the reason for doing this . Really wanted the fan clutch to stay it looks like it will be about an inch from the radiator .

Re: serpintine drive

You got me confused here man. I'm in Springtown, which is in the DFW area. I think you're confusing it with Spring, which is by you.

Re: serpintine drive

We used the steering box and crossmember off a 85 when we changed out the crossmemeber to get disc brakes with 5 lug. So when we went with the serp setup, it all worked.
If you need the fitting TXFF is refering to, we should have an extra. Then you would need the appropriate hose.
What year is your steering box from?
