Upholstery question
A buddy of mine gave me some really nice low back buckets out of a '77 blazer. The seats are very close to the '72 style, but not exactly the same. Has anyone used houndstooth seat covers on these style buckets? I really want to put the houndstooth in the truck, but would like to use these seats because they are in good shape. Thanks for any and all input! Merry Christmas!

Re: Upholstery question
you can go to a local upholstery shop with a picture of factory stock seats and a good upholsterer can make clones out of those seats that will b hard to tell from factory originals//houndstooth upholstery is readily available just look thru his swatch books// my guy is very reasonable the last time labor and materials was less out the door than the "factory correct" covers alone

Re: Upholstery question
If you order a set of 72 houndstooth seat covers, like cdowns said, they should work if your upholstery guy is any good. These seats came out of a @75 blazer.

Re: Upholstery question
That's a great idea. I haven't checked too many local upholstery shops, so I'm gonna do some checking around. Thanks for the response!

Re: Upholstery question
The right shop could do it for you, just make sure they note and correct the upper foam (backrest) differences found on the 75'ish and up low backs. The earlier 73-5'ish buckets had the rounded corner look on the upper seat backs similar to the 71/2 type. If you do end up buying aftermarket covers, I have been real happy with the 71/2 replacement PUI covers for fit & finish. Here is a picture of my original 73 cheyenne buckets, you can see/note the upper backrest foam & pattern diffs that I am referring to.

Re: Upholstery question
These buckets originally came from a loaded/low mile 74 GMC sierra grande truck cab-chassis motor home, I could'nt have asked for a nicer set of cores. All the later type brackets/mounts were swapped out with the correct earlier blazer stuff, had a local shop here in town intstall the new earlier type houndstooth covers and I think they look right at home in my 72 K/5.

That's what I'm talking about! Thanks for the pics and replies to all! I'll post pics when I get these things re-done.

Re: Upholstery question
Cool seats. Those are the ugliest seat covers I've ever seen though. Reminds me of "That 70s Show"

I love those seats, reminds me of growing up in the 70's with Blazers.

Re: Upholstery question
I grew up in the 70's too. Not everything about the "good ol days" was good. I think my dad might have had a pair of pants with that pattern.

Re: Upholstery question
Do bad your 300 or so miles from me. I do upholstery, I could fix those right up.
