Re: 4x4 build page????

I have struggled for a few years now trying to get people to post over here with their 4x4 topics and yesterday alone I moved three different threads here. I think it would be nice just not sure if people would use it.

Re: 4x4 build page????

I doubt they'll mess with it since they have the "projects and builds" section....maybe they could create sections within that forum i.e. Projects:4WD, 67-72, 60-66, 73 and up, etc...

I have one in my sig!

Re: 4x4 build page????

I think it would be cool as well....as it would be easy to locate all the 4x4reference pics.....I keep having to go through all the topics in "Projects & Builds" section to find the 4x4 builds so I can steal ideas and use them as reference for my own build...

What might be cool is to let them remain in the "Projects & Builds" section but add a sticky spot in here where we could just post up the link to the threads over there...

Re: 4x4 build page????

Seeing how large the builds & projects section has become, having a dedicated 4x4 build area could in reality make things easier for the site.

Mudder,
Without a doubt your efforts have made a huge difference in this section, thanks for that.

Re: 4x4 build page????

not to come across *****y, but.. till the time comes where we dont have to move a dozen posts a day TO the 4x4 forum, its not gonna happen..
Would be cool, but we have to fight everyone to post 4x4 stuff in the 4x4 section now. If we add yet another section, then thats just that much more work we get to do to move the mis posts there as well.

Maybe ya'll can police the main boards and direct the 4x4 topics this way and see how it goes

Another idea for now, is to do like the blazer area is and make a post index sticky

Re: 4x4 build page????

I agree Liz. I would love to add onto the 4x4 forum, but until we get it in everyones mind that the 4x4 threads are best answered here there would be nothing there. Everyone wants to put their threads on the main board becasue there is more traffic but that is not alsways the best thing to do. The best answers for the 4x4 topics are found right here even tho it may take a little longer for something to be answered.

The 4x4 area is gradually getting better and maybe in time adding to it may or can work. I wanna see this area do good. I have a special little stake in it. See what kind of interest you can drum up for it.

Re: 4x4 build page????

it seems to me that the majority of folks "around" want 2wd postings.. but there's suuch a huge following of chevy 4x4 and minimalistic actual tech threads and help, i would totally support a "build thread" and post the pictures of everthing ive ruined.. i mean built..
it would help me alot in seeing "normal" 4x4's that normal people made.. instead of these premadonna never see mud chrome deals that shops make...

Re: 4x4 build page????

I gotta agree it would be sweet. But I know that there are a ton of people who can't even post their 4x4 questions in here already. I think unless that slows down it will just make a ton more work for the mods. Thanks mudder for you hard work on the 4x4 section bud!

I just do the newbies now and move things around. Longhair and Yukon deserve the credit along with some of the regulars here who know who they are.

Re: 4x4 build page????

So.....no build thread for the 4x4'ers....Not even just a sticky where we can simply put the individual links to the 4x4 build threads located in the main "Projects & Builds" area?? Thats too bad as it sure would ne nice to have them accessible all in one area without searching through countless pages??

Re: 4x4 build page????

Myself or someone else needs to do a poll to see how much interest there is in it. Just havent really decided where to put it yet. Myself I would like to have it in the the 4x4 area. Makes good sense.

Re: 4x4 build page????

I agree that people need to put subjects in the correct area. But,it would be more consistant with the layout to have a 4wd build page or sticky in the 4wd area. All 4wd related threads belong here and not in the board for your truck`s year.Yet,your 4wd build thread belongs in that board. There are some 4wd builds that are simular to 2wd builds, only on a 4wd trucks, such as restorations. But,there is also the "off road" element to many 4wd builds that would be of no interest to the majority who are into lowered shortbed 2wds.They become completely different animals. You look in the suspension board and you`d think suspension was a 2wd thing. If you post about a lift kit it gets moved to the 4wd board.Anything mentioning 4wd gets moved here, except a build.I think members would rather put their builds here and it wouldn`t add to the threads moved once members realized a thread was here.It would also improve the 2wd build thread by cleaning and reducing.
Where would we post the poll? Not here, right?I think input from the 2-wheelers will add in.I`m willing to bet most would rather see that build threads be segregated to clean it up.

Re: 4x4 build page????

I must say that I have appreciated Yukon, Mudder, and many others for the contribution to the 4x4 section. I am one that checks this area quite a bit to see just 4x4 stuff because that is what I am into and own. I try my best to use this area for anything 4x4 related. I did however make my build thread in progress over on the build thread only because I thought that is where it should go. I would be okay with it being moved to a 4x4 thread here, but I like how your builds get exposure to a big crowd in that area. It really gets you pumped up to go out in freezing temps to work on it out in the shop. I for one though would like to see a thread for 4x4 builds or sticky. It would make life easier for all of us 4x4 buffs to see what we want to see. Trevor
