Building a dually...got some questions

Ok I have a 84 1/2 ton 4x4 that use to be a diesel. I sold the 6.2 for what I paid for the truck. I am going to rebuild the 700r4 and beef it up. Install the gas tanks, wiring and TBI motor from a 87 parts truck I have. I also have a complete 77 chevy 4x4 3/4 rolling chassis. What I want is a 4x4 dually. Can I use the axles from the 77 chassis or is the rear narrower? If so what can I get the rear from? Is the front axle different as well or is it just in the rotor?? AS for the bed.. my bed is decent.. Is there a way to convert my bed to a dually bed?? Is it as simple as drilling some holes and bolting the dually fenders on?

The axles are the difference in dually vs single. Is the 77 a dually 4x4, if you swap both axles.

no the 77 is not a dually.. Whats the difference in the front axle between a dually and single wheel? Is a dually rear a bolt in thing??? can I convert my bed by just bolting on some fenders??

Front is the same (short of lugs) you really want to get the axles in pairs so they are geared the same.

A dually rear should bolt up to the truck the cab/chassis trucks have narrower mounting.

Re: Building a dually...got some questions

the front requires different hubs...the rear is shorter, but you could take the rear you have and shorten the axle tubes and put dually axles in it...

Re: Building a dually...got some questions

You will need dually hubs for the frontand buy a dually rear or buy dually adapters which are basically spacers to run the dually wheels. And yes the fenders will just bolt on, but you may need to cut out your fender wells also..
