Seat Belts
I have bucket seats. Where a good place online for finding seatbelts for my 68'?
Just looking for the lap belt style, not over-the-shoulder. Pics of yours, would be nice as well. Thanks |

Re: Seat Belts
If your going to wear seatbelts why wouldn't you want 3 point belts? A lot safer.

Re: Seat Belts
Well, 3 point belts do keep your face out of the dash. Have you seen pics of Berencam's wrecked truck?

Re: Seat Belts
That have them in several catalogs. LMC comes to mind. They mount in the same spot as most vehicles today. You'd need to make the hole.

Re: Seat Belts
LMC, Brothers, Classic Industries, Year One, etc... seems everyone has them, and the three point conversion is available just as much. Highly recommended.

Re: Seat Belts
the only drilling i had to do was use a left hand bit to get the plug out. as for the tank my kit came with a bracket to allow the retracter to clear the tank.

Re: Seat Belts
My girlfriend got me these 3 point belts for an early Christmas present. I had wanted some with the aircraft style buckles. They installed fairly easily. I did have to take a Dremel to the hole on the extractor side to get them to work with the stock mounting bolts. I also had to pick up a couple of 7/16" fine thread bolts. The buckle side is kind of short, could be a problem if you need to move the stock bench seat forward. Overall I'm happy with them though, they work very well.

Re: Seat Belts
Whatever you do, DO NOT use used belts!
Seat belts are only good for 1 hard crash. Visually, they may look fine, but they could be stretched &/or fatigued, which could result in a failure in the next accident. Why take the chance? I'm climbing off my soap box & tossing it into the bed of my truck...........until next time.

Re: Seat Belts
I have crashed a few vehicles in my time and have never had belts replaced by the body shop of by me? Is it standard practice to replace belts after wrecks? I don't think it is in my area? Not being combative, just have never heard of people replacing them or them failing when reused after a wreck. Maybe I will have to ask my insurance agent if new belts are covered under my policy.

Re: Seat Belts
Well not all the vehicles in the JY have been in wrecks. Some are just junkers with perfectly fine seat belts

Seat belts are only good for 1 hard crash. Visually, they may look fine, but they could be stretched &/or fatigued, which could result in a failure in the next accident. Why take the chance? That sounds like some good advice, I'm planing on instaling some thiree point belts but never knew they were only good for one wreck then needed to be replaced. |
