odd find, maybe possible parts source.

at work we have a 96 GMC delivery van(maybe it's called a cube van im not really sure) anyway, i noticed the other day that the inside door handles, window cranks, and arm rests are the exact same kind that are used in my 71 chevy pickup. even the door panels look the same. i was thinking that maybe the mechanicals of the doors would work for our trucks. has anybody ever tried this? just an idea for those looking for another source for parts.

That's interesting. Can we steal parts off the truck from your work? I need...

I need a new door handle! Then again, I never use the passenger door.

That is funny you mentioned this because I've used HELP quit a few times. However, I need the outside handle. Somehow the pin slipped and the button is stuck in. I'm pulling the pannel next week to see if I can brake anything else.
Thanks for the recomendation though, everyone needs to know about HELP!

Sounds good to me. Let me see what I find when I get it taken apart and I will let you know. My driver's side locking mech. is also broken. Can't lock the door and I work in...well...a questionable neighborhood.

long night, i will bet that the back plate thst the push ro slies through is broken. i've broken at least 4 handles on my 71, and that is usually what happes, the button gets stuck because it et in too far, because the back plate broke. it is possible to quick fix this, my truck had one tack welded when i bought it
