Fuel Cell's w/Foam

Getting another fuel cell soon and remember reading about how the foam breaks down and clogs the filter.
My current cell is baffled, so I have no experience with the foam.

Was that a one time occurrence or has anybody else had the same thing happen?

Looking to buy something on the less expensive end this time around, any good links out there?

Re: Fuel Cell's w/Foam

I used a summit 20 gallon cell that has the sump for drag racing. I removed the foam for the same rea.son, plus I am running diesel and did not know how the foam would react. I have had know issues with fuel delivery with out the foam, i think the sump helps

Re: Fuel Cell's w/Foam

I've heard that too, about it coming apart, but for some reason I am thinking that was for folks running alcohol.
I'm running a Summit aluminum cell with foam still in it & have not had any problems (been in there about 2 years). I do kind of feel of it every now & then, when gas is low, and it doesn't seem to be deteriorating at all. Wesco Performance cells replacement foam for about $10. If it worries you, for that price, you could change it out every year or so. http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo...lcellfoam.html

Re: Fuel Cell's w/Foam

Yeah that looks like a good solution for a decent price.

20 gallons is fine, it's for the rock crawler, wouldn't need any more fuel storage than that.

Going to do a rear taper on the blazer with some swb bedsides I have and that tank would fit really well, thanks for the link.

Re: Fuel Cell's w/Foam

I had an Aero 40 gallon fuel tank in my Blazer and am getting another one for my current build. You can get them with a skid plate welded on the bottom for extra protection. Never had any problems with it.www.aerotanks.com
