Project: Jingle Rust
Gay project title no? I'm gonna try to start and keep up a build thread. It will be checked guite a bit but not updated, since i dont get to work on her very much. Project name is 'cause they used her in the christmas parade many years because of the red and green coloring . If i do happen to keep the pictures up, they may not be of the best detail and im also very much an amature so i ask you to have patience with me lol.

Re: Project: Jingle Rust
Do not paint it! The patina you have is awesome! Just do everything but the body and paint.

You should consider selling it & buying a different truck without such awesome patina Now that is based of a entirely lame picture If the rest of the truck looks like crap, then paint |

Re: Project: Jingle Rust
I totally agree that it is a sucky picture, but thats how the rest looks, if i was into that patina thing, i couldn't beat that rust design, the thing is, it is not surface rust, and its a farm truck, i treat my trucks like they were meant to be treated, not like a car, not to be offinsive to anyone, but i am totally against chop tops, drops, window conversions, cutting the dash, and trailor queens. There is already a primer spot on the hood and you may like to know, but it once was a company truck of someones around here, it had the patina look on the bed in the front, it has tho primer on the bed rails and a lot of green walmart paint on the bed. If i had a truck like this that was not of any moral value to me, i would probably sell it to someone who goes for that patina look, my grandpa, however owned this truck since 73 as a daily driver and my dad even drove it while his were down, so it kinda is important to me. Ill try and get some pictures of the truck, the entire bed, soon before and extra paint was aplied

Re: Project: Jingle Rust
Well since the patina has already been screwed, then I guess there isnt any reason not to paint it
But more pics is a must |

Re: Project: Jingle Rust
Looks like a good old truck. Got any more pics? I'm an old Polk county boy myself. Grew up in Morrisville. I now live in Battlefield, just on the southwest side of Springfield. Good to see another local guy on the board!
Another member here, Bobbo and I are trying to get a Chevy and GMC truck club going in this area. If you're interested let me know and I'll get you some info on it. We meet the first Saturday of every month at the Steak And Shake on Glenstone at 3 p.m.. Welcome to the board, don't know how I missed your first post. Hope to hear back from you soon! ...Joe

Re: Project: Jingle Rust
Looking forward to seeing more pics of your truck! What all do you have planned for it, drivetrain, etc.? I like the name of the project! That was what got me to look to see how bad of a rust bucket you were dealing with. So far it doesn't look all that bad.
I'm very familiar with Bolivar. Spent a lot of time running around up there on the weekends chasing the girls when I was younger. Used to have a light blue 82 K20 with 13" of lift and 44s on it. You might have seen it around town a lot back in the late 80s/early 90s. Those were the good old days. I've got an 86 K10 shortbed now that I'm planning on redoing sometime in the future. I just went with a 4 inch lift and 33s on this one. I'm getting too old and crippled up to haul my fat ass up in anything taller these days! If you're interested in meeting up with our small group in Jan. at Steak And Shake we'd be happy to meet you in person. ...Joe

Re: Project: Jingle Rust
Thanks for the continued compliments, at first, i was overwhellemed with the project as a small kid, cause the only vehicles my household had was a 93 lumina and it was in pretty good condition, i'd look at this and think Yikes! Now that im becoming more accustomed to these trucks and can monitor others builds, it aint half bad at all and umm, i was kinda born in the 90's
