need help with wheels.

I know I want 22's, and I like the deep dish look. What are you guys running for a 22in wheel, and what bs do I need. Its a '67 sw, but I'm not sure what rearend I have, whats the measurements on the 2 sizes?

You are trying to lay frame on this truck, correct? 67-70 rears are 1.5" narrower than the later rears. BS will be dermined depending on wheel width. Most 22s I see are 9-9.5" wide, so with the early rear, you will want around 5" BS- late rear ~5.5". These are general guidelines- best thing to do is measure for your truck 'cause each one is slightly different.

The Big Green..... The best guy I know to determine what wheel back-spacing belongs on your truck would be you.

Thanks guys, thats all I needed. I do know that I need to be the one that measures. Being that most guys my order their wheels online got me worried. I would hate to get it wrong, and be screwed out a set of wheels. I'm trying to get them thru a wheel dealer here local, and if they are wrong, no biggy. The wider, deeper dish wheels seem hard to get at a shop local.

IMO... find the most reputable shop in the area and use them. Not that the less reputable shops would be bad, but if they have ordered larger dia. wheels in the past with custom BS I would trust them far more than I would another shop with less experience.

Best of luck with the decision as the wheel/BS selection is one of the hardest in my opinion.

The shop I use, I have been dealing with for all my years of driving, all 12 of them. I am bagging first, because then I will know what fits best, when dropped. They have sold one set of 30's, would that look good?...lol

Then use different ones that you can get from them. Use any resource you can to help get it right.

I've always measured my own BS, simply because I don't trust anyone else to do it. I like the deep dish look as well , make sure whoever does it knows how to measure it out to get the maximum dish.

Theres not many places to choose from around here. I'll get wheels someday. Seems like I have been looking forever...lol. So many choices, and sizes. I remember when 15's where it, and if you wanted to be really cool, you got 15x10's...lol. Now there are 32's, I saw a Hummer on 30's a few months ago. The guy is a track runner, Wallace Spearman, or Tyson Gay owns it, I forget. Its awesome but huge.

I think w/slightly different logic so hear me out . . .... Yes, the large diameter rollers are popular & can get a truck noticed. The challange is to build a truck that gets noticed even if it has 15" wheels.

Build the truck & let the wheels compliment the build.... regardless of their size.

I have a Pro Star look-alike. They are a Prime's, Walmart carried them, or still do. They were on my truck when I bought it, 10, or 11 years ago. I don't think they will tuck behind back fenders when I get it bagged. They are 15x8 on back, 6 on front. The back looks close already, and they may fit, but may not. If they fit I'll keep them for a while longer, but they are scratched, dented, and bent up. I don't know when I'll get wheels really. I want them now, but may wait, and make the truck they way I want, and wheel last. I just wanted to make the notch for the wheel diameter I want in the end, when I do get wheels.

I have new tires on it, even if I want a nicer wheel, then I can buy, new 15's for fairly cheap, and look great. They aren't big, but they are reasonably priced, and a cheap way because I don't need tires. Most cheaper 22's, with tires, are around $2000. That kinda money will make an old truck look nice. That can finish most interiors, and even some new paint.

Heck... Start looking for a set of truck ralleys (15x8) & van ralleys (15x6.5's). They're easy to 're-freshen' vs. the Pro-star type wheel you have & ralleys still look 'right' on these classic trucks. You might even find someone that would swap you straight up??

Another idea is some plain-jane solid steelies painted gloss (enter color of choice). Some chrome lugs & you have a cheap yet clean & detailed set of rolling stock.

Your suspension guy should be able to set up your bagged suspension without having the actual wheels. Just give him the overall tire height. Or get some cheap roller 15's (235/75-15's) that are close to the height you want.

He's setting up for a 285/35/22, or something right at 31 or under diameter tire. Although I'm rolling on the standard(back in the day)275/60/15, and I want use that big or a notch, I'll still have for later. I'll roll with a cover so no one will ever know.




I have the 275/60 on back and 235 on front that matches diameter on back, 70 I think. I can do a rally wheel but I'll be a little off for the front smaller tire.
