Power steering lines
I saw a thread on this somewhere but can't seem to find it. I've got a steering box and pump off a '83-'84 truck and the lines are hitting the fender wells. What is everyone doing about there's? I guess i've got the newer style pump and lines and don't want to buy another pump and box, so can I bend these lines or is there a different way to do this. I could cut the fender well, but don't really want to. If i turn them towards the front of the truck, I don't think there is enough rubber hose to reach to the pump. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks - Security guy.

I think you need to trim the inner fender. I'm sure someone will chime in. It also looks like your pump pulley is real close to the frame. does it look like that with the belt on?

The belt in the pic is the wrong belt, but yea its pretty close to the frame. The return line fitting hits the frame if I adjust the pump out to tighten the belt though. I think I may be able to bend the fitting a little to give some more room for it. Other than that, I think it will be ok with the motor twisting a little under power.

Is that a long water pump setup with the brackets from a 83-84 truck?

Its a pump from a '83 truck but the bracket is aftermarket from alan grove components. I put a long water pump on it and the steering bracket is for a long pump also. Its a universal type bracket for street rods. Nice bracket, but yea, a little low for these trucks. Its a 402 by the way. Any ideas?

This is what I did with my power steering lines, went right thru the frame rail...
