Help! my lifters are stuck

I started to remove the cam today on ym327 and i can;t get the lifters out they slide half way out and wont come any farther i have already broke one and it fell back into the lifter bore i can slide them all enough to get the cam out i think. is there enough space to knock the lifters down into the cam bore once the cam is out and remove them with a magnet?

Yes, once the cam is removed you can get them out by pushing them in. That happens alot with a flat cam. It mushrooms the lifters....

yea sometimes they do stick because of mushrooming, but they also stick because of carbon buildup on the bottom of the lifter where the lifter bore does'nt wipe off the excess. regardless, they do cause a little aggravation sometimes.

A good trick is to take a cardboard tube like a paper towel roll, cut it lengthwise along it's length and slide it into the cam cavity to catch the lifters so they don't fall to the crankshaft area.

this dont really brother me because i am compete rebuilding this motor and is taken apart
