Red face How much hp can a th-700r4 handle?

Does anybody know how much a TH-700R4 tranny can take? I'm planning on producing around 600HP!!!! No time soon, I'm planning on this being about a year and half to two year project. Mainly due to $$$$$$$. Maybe I should try to find some sponsorers.

The guy that built my 700R4 is planning on putting one just like in a 32 Ford with a Blown HEMI!!. As long as they are built right people say they can take alot of power.

Try JET, TCI or most most tranny builders. They can offer a unit rated up to 500 to 600HP. I had mine made to withstand 700HP and 600TQ. I have been happy with it so far!! Rock on people!!

I'm the third owner of this 74 Chevy K-5 Blazer. It has a 540 Tall Deck Big Block Chevy, 4.5 bore, 4.25 stroked crank, 10 to 1 pistons that are 60 over from speed-o-motive, 800 CFM performer carb on a 454-0 aluminum intake, aluminum heads with full rocker cam and 7:1 lifters. hooker heads with 2" primary and 4" collectors to a pair of flowmasters. A preped 700R4 rated to 700HP, 205 T-case, Dana 60 front limited slip, Corp 14 bolt rear lockers, with 4:88. Working on a 4 link coil over spring front suspenion with 63inch leaf link rear suspenion. Running 38 Ground Hawg tires on custom 16.5 Trail Ready bead locked rims. Custom dash with Auto meter gauges, Bear custom seats, 8 point roll cage and lots of other goodies. Its my money pit land boat, but I love it!!

I agree with the fellas. The 700R4 must be built for the abuse. I have one up to about 500 HP and like it. Have the tranny built by a reputable shop and you should not have any problems.

hey its Rob Dundrea, and 650hp to be exact, my 500hp blazer has the 700 in it too, lots of miles on both and not one problem, just keep 'em cool
