Bed floor straightening

In the process of doing a 70 longbed; the floor of the bed has the seemingly typical waves from being loaded down with stuff over the years. Does anyone have a cure or fix for this? I cannot find an aftermarket replacement floor; just pieces, 16"x48", and that would require alot of welding and grinding.

I am not even sure that I could put a new floor in if I had one. Is the floor seperate from the sides?

The floor does unbolt from the sides. you thought about diamond plate steel or aluminum? Kinda expensive to get a sheet in that size, but it would be a cool custom deal is polished, and a good working surface with some sort of spray in bed liner.

I have the same problem and an probably going to caugh up a big wad of cash and get some diamond plate for mine. It is almost impossible to find a good floor used, definately impossible new at even twice the reasonable price.

Longhornmail,

Thanks for the info.

I am originally from Mansfield. When I see your avatar, I know why I don't go back. I still have family there (Mansfield) and a brother in Hopewell. He has a welding and fabrication shop wich I sure could use once in awhile, but that snow has to go.

Mansfield...been there quite a bit when i was a kid. My mom was a member of the astronimy club out there and had to drag us kids there too. (really sucks when your 13 yrs old and not interested at all)
Not too far from here either. You'll have to give me a holler next time your up here.
I'm starting to agree with you bout the snow, I had my fun already this year, now I just wish it would all go away.

i thought about the diamond plate but i was going to get it in steel and then put a spray in bedliner in it or my other choice was jc whitney, they dont have the whole entire bed floor but they have it in halves

Put in some time to search for a straight floor. The floor is spot welded to the floor cross supports which make for a tough replacement if done in pieces. You can disassemble the bed and for the most part it unbolts. There are a couple of welds on the rear where the bed floor ties into the vertical supports. I too need an excellent floor,, haven't found it yet but around here rust is a bigger problem then dents!! Good luck--Huck

There was a thread here a while back about this & the guy said something about jacking underneath the bed and using the truck's weight to push out dents - haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning on seeing if it works. Might be easier than a replacement.

My bed floor is trashed! Its all dented up from years of use as a furnature hauler from my uncles. I guess I just have to deal with it. I like the rubber floor mat that covers it all up!!! lol

Perhaps chemotherapy followed by radiation treatment?
