How do I tune my 2.8 GM?
I have a 1984 2.8L or 178ci engine (front wheel drive) that is really lacking power. How can I get more performance out of the stock engine?

What Vehicle is it in ? Those were not powerful engines, so dont expect too much if its a larger vehicle. In my opinion they were not designed to be hot roded and hold up.

Edelbrock makes a 2piece manifold system for the 2.8 that you can select a 2bbl top or 4bbl top for. I put one on my 85 s10 blazer and it made a huge difference. I used the 4bbl and put a 400cfm holley 4bbl and it worked great. My motor already had 130000 miles on it but once i did the carb swap i only got another 30000 out of it. could of been age but boy did the secondaries sound good.

use your 2.8 as a boat anchor cuz the bottom ends of those motors are terrible
the berrings do not get enough oil and burn out i recomend a 2.5 or a 3.1. Unless u wanna keep on replacing blown up motors ------------------

If you do decide to do a swap Chevy makes a 3.4 crate motor designed specifically for replacing the 2.8 the only thing you have to change from stock is going to an electric fuel pump. It is much more powerfull and better lasting but it is a little pricey after I converted mine I thing I was into it about $3500 or so.
