Re: Anyone car for some rust??
i gotta order this piece that goes into the floor about 4 inches and then your inner rockers are already attached to it... it will be easier in the long run... and best part is the carpet will cover it...

Re: Anyone car for some rust??
im hoping to get passenger side done within a week or two... (gotta wait on the outer floor extension piece) and since new years is coming im not expecting it soon... but once thats in im going to get other side done..do the same thing to that side... keep doors off...sand whole cab with 220 or so to knock off the first layer of paint....take windshield..and then prime the whole cab..then start working on the bed

Re: Anyone car for some rust??
Dude.....your rocker/floor area looks eerily similar to the one I just cut off my '67 GMC SWB yesterday! Check it out.

Re: Anyone car for some rust??
Salt has a lot to do with it, but I have seen alot of rusted rockers on trucks that have never seen salt. It is mainly because these drain holes get clogged up and nobody back then either took the time or knew to keep these drain holes clear. Getting wet does not cause rust, staying wet does.

Re: Anyone car for some rust??
Bad design with inadequate drainage... There is a really good article in FAQ:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=201540 You can buy the whole inner rocker panel now (I wish they would've had the full piece when i did mine), but this gives you a good tutorial for the process

Re: Anyone car for some rust??
Man... I really feel for y'all with the rust. I am really lucky and fortunate to have a rust free '72.
When y'all get all the rust out, your trucks will be better than new. Good luck with all the work.

Re: Anyone car for some rust??
At least you can get rockers and floor pans and posts, etc. I have to contend with a used cab to get what I need, and it ain't nearly as simple as a rocker....Didn't have a clue as to how bad it was until disassembling it to finde out how bad it might be. I wasn't disappointed, just extremely discouraged. Still have to replace the rockers and lower front pillars.

Re: Anyone car for some rust??
Quote:
That's what I was shooting for, but what drove the original fix was when the wiper motor fell out of the cowl, due to the mounting rusting out. The guy who was working on my truck has lymphoma and I have another friend who is gonna replace the firewall with a donor cab that was rear-ended. He was just going to cut out the good sheet metal around the wiper motor for me, until the other guy got sick. But, you're right. However, my intention is to refurbish my factory air and reinstall it. Don't have the do-re-mi to do an aftermarket a/c system.
