Parking brake question

I have removed all the pieces from the parking brake cable on the 72 C10 parts truck I have. The only part I cant figure out is the rod or guide whatever its called on the passenger side of the frame. Is there a trick to get it out, or does it not come out ?

I would have to go look at the parts trucks. but IIRC i thought i saw a T-bar type connector bolted to the rod that the cable ran through . if you remove the nut, can you remove the rod by pushing it back through the frame towards the front.

Here is what the ends look like. They dont seem to be removable because theyre flared and wont fit through the hole in the frame. I eventually will swap my parking brake handle on my 67 to the foot pedal so I wanted to keep everything from the 72 to make it easier.

The end with the washer should be on the outside of the frame. And you should be able to just pull it out from the outside of the frame. That is the way they were put in at the factory and most usually just come right out. If It doesn't want to then either the hole got messed up or the flared end that is on the inside got messed up. If all else fails just cut off one of the flared ends. I have seen people do that and just thread the end and put a nut on it like the way the cable ataches to the links on the drivers side.
