WIW 67-68 hood??

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum or not (If not mods please move it). What's a rust free 67-68 going for these days? I know complete clips seem to sell pretty well...didn't know if the hood would bring anything by itself.

Thanks guys!

Re: WIW 67-68 hood??

I'd say $50 picked up. Hard and expensive to ship. Guess it depends where you are at. I have 3 hoods, 67-68, 69-70, and a 71-72. I have tried to sell them for $50 each, but no one wants to drive to my location.

Re: WIW 67-68 hood??

I paid $100 for mine (picked up) and it only had one small dent, no hood letters, primered, no lip trim. Hope this helps. Oh it is a 67-68 chev hood.

I've seen $25-$400. I'd sell a good one(if I had one) for $50.

Re: WIW 67-68 hood??

When I went to Charlotte this past fall I was looking for a 67/68 hood. I found an excellent one with no surface dings and it didn't have the typical "bump" or "dip" in the center ridge. I bought it for $100. The two other hoods I saw were in OK shape, one was fairly priced at $75 and the other was too high (IMO) at $120. I think $50-$100 would be fair depending on shape. As others have mentioned I've seen a lot of cheap hoods on the board not sell (most of the time due to location).

This is the one I bought for $100, it doesn't look like much, but it's super straight and rust hole free. It's actually one of the best I've found. The front lip of these hoods are notorious for bubbling and rusting out. OR it seems that 90% of the hoods I look at have dent damage somewhere on the nose.

Re: WIW 67-68 hood??

I've had a nice 69 hood for sale for a while for $75 with no luck. I would gladly trade it for a nice 67-68.

Re: WIW 67-68 hood??

I see alot of 67/68 hoods split at the front lip...alot.I think good 67/68 hoods are a bit tougher to run across.Hoods have been taken for granted because they survive better than other sheetmetal. But,good hoods are as hard to find as good trucks now.You don`t take a good hood off a good truck unless it`s for a cowl induction.i`d say $100-$300.You pay more than that for a reproduction hood.A clean hood should be worth at least what a repro lists for,IMO.It`s a matter of having one nice enough in the time and place where someone who can appreciate it needs one.Or...yeah sure.

Re: WIW 67-68 hood??

Special K has this one nailed. Where do you find a good hood these days? Any 60 to 72 truck that has been sitting around has a case of hood center dip syndrome caused from the dry hinges after years of people prying open to look inside.

I bought a whole 67 C20 truck for $1200 because it had the most perfect hood and grille that I needed. I then found a NOS hood in the wrappers for $750 and a NOS grille for $400 which I bought also. So I would have to say a perfect that is a no rust, 67 only hood(no trim hole front edge) and damage free is worth $300 to $500. But it takes the right buyer, location, and timing.
