My trip to the post office.

Ok before you guys get to saying...what a lucky S.O.B. the first truck I bought for 50.00. Non running....cab shot all the way around.....the best body parts are the hood and the tailgate. Everything else is rusted bad. 71 GMC SWB Stepper. 250 I6, 3 speed on the floor. The guy bought it new and it locked up on him a few years ago. Cant open the hood. The hinges are rusted. It 5 lug so I do have good parts there and disc brakes. Its sad that this truck rusted out as bad as it did. The bonus to this...he has the original am/fm. He was wanting the am/fm/cassette back that he bought in the 80's for like 500.00 he said. I told him he could have it. I am having it towed here this afternoon.

Ok second GMC truck was right around the corner. The guy told me that it quit running about a month ago doesnt know whats wrong with it. He will be calling me later with a price.

Ok third truck...it is for sale and the guy told me 700.00 for it. 68 Chevy!

Re: My trip to the post office.

If the old grain / grass cutting scythe in the bed is complete (& goes with it) at the prices I've seen them at in antique stores, there's your 50-bucks back, right there.

Plus at New Years, that's what Father Time always is shown carrying with him in the cartoons, so you're all set !!!

Re: My trip to the post office.

Got the truck home....well this thing is a rust hulk. the bed side are about the let go of the fenders....everyone of the holes for the bolts for the fenders is almost gone. The cab....you wouldnt want to turn a corner really hard. The front fenders are fixable. The radiator core support...not fixable. Windshield is good...no clouding. The am/fm he threw in the deal doesnt work. I will have to fix that. The sliding back window is good. The doors are shot. Not even going to mess with them. The tailgate is perfect. Motor is locked up. Cant shift the trans into any gear....The shifter is really hard to move. Hood is good. a few good interior parts. I am going to strip it. I am going to use the front suspension and the rear end. It does have power steering and power brakes...so I will keep that stuff too. The rest is scrap.

The suspensions, power steering, etc is more than worth the $50! Good buy...

So, are you going to get the other two as well, or???

I am trying. I offered the guy on the 68 600.00...he wants 700.00.

The guy with the GMC one ton...he called and asked if I could put a motor in it for him. I told him I am not up for that right now. I told him I would give him 500.00 for it. He said he would get back with me on that.
