Is my carb bad.. info please

i have been doing typical rust repair on my truck..tore it all apart thanksgiving break... syphened gas out to put in my eclipse so it wouldnt go bad... so like two weeks ago i put 5 gallons in the tank..fired her up let her run for twenty minutes shut her off..syphened the gas... then saturday (12-27) i put the tank back in put 5 more gallons of gas in..fired right up let it run for twenty minutes ran fine....then tonight i fired her up to move it to the spot to cut rockers out and it runs so horrible i have to keep my foot in the throttle or it will die... even had the foot in it for ten minutes..still didnt fix it...shot carb cleaner down carb..didnt fix it... floored it and when i let off it would die... and when i let off slowly it stays alive but it run so horrible...

your not going to solve much by spraying carb cleaner down the butterfly. Have you checked your fuel flow? Are your filters clogged?

oh snap.. never even thought about that..but i do know there is like 4 filters on the thing...two in the carb then two on the lines itself... ill check those next time im working on it.... not to worried about it yet since i still got lots of body work to do and its not legal to drive...just want to fix it soon tho

Check the fuel level in the bowls. Might be a stuck needle and seat, and flooding the carb with fuel. If you pull the sight plug on the side of the bowl and fuel pours out, bingo. Bowl level too high, or stuck needle. Both will present themselves in the same way.

First look down the throat of the carb after it dies or you shut it off. If gas is running in you do have a needle valve or float problem. There is a post further down in this section called need carb help. Try my tip in there. The sight plugs are on the side of the fuel bowls. They are brass plugs with a slot. If you remove them & gas comes out it is flooding or the float level is too high. Ideally the fuel level is right at the bottom of the hole.

i fixed the problem...took the bowl off and moved the float or whatever back and forth put the bowl back on and she fired and ran perfect
