Ouch, depends on how much time, energy and skills you have with a welder.
Plus your in Texas, there are plenty of cabs and trucks in Texas for a replacement. Cheap and plenty of spare parts

Re: Look what I found!!!

I had a '70 that was like that. It looked like it had been cut with a torch. I'm guessing if it's that bad there it will be bad elsewhere (like the rockers and drip rail) too. The firewall may be rusted out too. When you pop off the heater box I'm willing to bet you'll find more.

You might be better off to get a replacement cab. I see you've got the pedal E brake... so you must have the big window. You should be able to find one that's in better condition.

I sold one for $100 this fall.... you just need to find somebody who REALLY wants to get one out of their way.

Re: Look what I found!!!

I'd put the kick panels back on and drive it while I was looking for another cab.

Re: Look what I found!!!

I did some more digging and found a rust spot on the firewall. The drip rail is actually good. I bought this truck 6 years ago and has been sitting in the back yard, I guess that didn't help anything. I am wanting to build a shop this spring and start a frame off, so i guess I will be looking for a cab then. I was also wondering how hard it is to get a title , most of the cabs I see for sale don't have titles, is this easy to do?

Re: Look what I found!!!

from what i gather you can use your vin tag on the other cab. there is a company that makes the factory rosette style rivets also. but check with your local DMV to make sure its legal first.

Re: Look what I found!!!

What the crap???? I'm from NY and I've never seen a kick panel that bad before. I've seen the bottom 3 or 4 inches missing, but what the heck happened?

Maybe use it as practice for welding until you find a better cab?

You said the drip rail is good, but how does it look above the windshield (behind/under the window rubber) and the drip rail seams above the door (visible when the door is open.)

Re: Look what I found!!!

Wow, man that is bad. You did need that parts truck I sold. I have a 70 cab that is a complete and total gonner that is beyond any possible repair except the kick panel areas, your more than welcome to come cut them out for free.

Re: Look what I found!!!

I don't know what the hell happend, I now a lot of sand came out . The truck looked pretty decent when I bought it 6 years ago. I guess I will be hunting down a cab in the near future.
